I was wandering around downtown Ottawa waiting to photograph the lunar eclipse. It was a very cloudy night and it gradually became more and more obvious that the eclipse was not in the cards for me. On the way out of town I stopped by Parliament Hill to create a few images of the Hill with all the Christmas Lights in full display. It’s a beautiful scene and obviously very photogenic!!

Crossing into Indigo
I love the time right after sunset on the prairies when the deep blue night sky slowly descends. It squishes the glowing magenta light of the magic hour into the horizon below it. I pass this railway crossing all the time, and I always think about stopping to have a better look at it. But I rarely do. I’m glad I did this time because the light was stunning.
Prairies
Some of the most beautiful light anywhere can be found on the Prairies and there is almost always a rolling landscape or a piece of farm equipment nearby to show off that light. I’m lucky enough to get to enjoy that light on a regular basis, and I’ve made some of my best images while roaming the Canadian Prairies.
In the City
These are all images that I’ve made in the City of Calgary, in Alberta, Canada. These are mostly long exposures taken at night to showcase the city lights.
