Dramatic skies over the Calgary cityscape in the morning, including the new Bow building towering over the surrounding highrises.

I’m always on the lookout for new locations to photograph the Calgary Skyline from and so I went for a drive the other day. I tried a whole bunch of spots but this was definitely my favorite. I found a few more places that I’m going to try soon…

Sean lives and works in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and is surrounded by majestic views of the Rocky Mountains and constantly changing prairie landscapes. While focusing on the beauty of the prairies, including the sweeping horizons, the vegetation, and the birds and animals, the Eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains are also a favorite place to wander and photograph.

  1. Hi there ,

A friend of mine is looking for some good places to shoot the Calgary skyline, and we’re just not sure where to go. So we were gonna take a drive, but I decided to google it first. If you have any spots that you’d like to share, it’d be much appreciated =D
    Thanks so much!

    1. No problem with sharing… There are lots of great places and honestly driving around is probably pretty easy.

Some of my favorite places include Scotsman’s hill in Ramsay, Centenary Park (Zoo Island), Crescent Heights (just at the top of the hill north of Center Street Bridge), and River Park (near the Glenmore Reservoir). There are also lots of great places out on the open prairie if you leave the city, but you’d need a long lens to make landscape images of the cityscape from out there.

      I hope this helps?
